Note from Jerry Quinn, descendent.
Dear Tom
Thank you so much for all the invaluable information on your website of the Garltiz's
Family History.
I originally came across your site abt 5 yrs ago, and if I remember I believe I had emailed you then requesting corrections you had under my great-grandfather. While it does appear some corrections and additions were made such as the obits for Lucille ( my grandmother) and her second husband William F. Taylor ( my step- grandfather). I actually have the newspaper obit of her you have added. All is correct in the obit for her with the exception of the middle initial for my father (Dale, of whom is now deceased). The newspaper obit printed it as being "E". It should be noted it was "G" for "Garlets". Her first husband's name was Joseph J. Quinn. They were divorced when my father was abt age 3. I would like to note further under children you have Nancy Lee ( marriage Sledge), which is correct. She is still living in Md. Her husbands name is Al Sledge with 2 sons ( and grandchildren). And finally, You also have the name Elva which is also correct. She was the sister to my grandmother, Lucille. She too is now deceased and like my grandmother was born in Pa. and later moved to and lived in Fla (Orlando) and passed on there before her second husband, Al Gore whose is also deceased. They only had one son, his where abouts we don't know. I do know my Aunt Elva had a previous marriage but I don't remember his name.
Again thank you Soooooooooooooooooo much for all your hard work you have put into
your website.

New note from Jerry Quinn - June 2009
Hi Tom,
First thank you for your email reply regarding my request in my first email to you. Sorry
for the delay to reply.
Second, again thank you for making the requested corrections to your website. I just
looked at it for the first time since my last email to you.
While I don't wish to be a pest, but I did notice a couple of minor details.
1).Under my Aunt Elva's name you have it as "one son, name unknown". Actually his
name is Keith Gore. I just don't know if he is still living or not.The last I knew, He was
in San Francisco, Ca. If he is still living, he would be about the age of 57-60.
2).Where you have it stated "Annanias married: Clara Yutzy (after the death of Jacob
Jr, who died before the birth of their child Earl, Clara remarried Wilson Paul).
I'm a bit puzzled as to the way this is stated. Shouldn't it be stated as "after the death
of Annanias, who died before the birth of their child Earl, Clara became remarried to
Wilson Paul".
3).About 15 yrs. ago, my Aunt Nancy(Sledge) sent me the obits of my great-grandfather
and great-grandmother ( Wm. F. Garlets / Edna Baker Garlets).
In his obit, it was stated that he died at the age of 62. And in her obit, it is stated that
Wm. F. preceded her in death in the yr. 1949.
Also, in his obit it states he was survived by 2 sisters, Mrs. John M. Deal of Salisbury,
Pa. and Mrs. Wesley Wilhelm of Meyersdale, Pa.
Although I'm not certain as to which sister was married to whom, but their names are
Alice Evora Garlets ( whom I believe was married to John Milton Deal) and Sarah
Agnes Garlets (Mrs. Wesley Wilhem).
Up until I saw your post of Earl's obit, I knew nothing of him. I did notice that in his
obit it states his father died before him and that he had two brothers and two sisters.
If all is correct, then the two sisters would be as above, and one of the two brothers
would have been my great-grandfather (Wm. F. Garlets). My question here would be
if there was a second brother, who would he be?
4).And lastly, in my own online research, I came across a (texted) of names of the
Hostetler Church of the Brethern Cemetery, Greenville Twp. Pa. from http://www.
rootsweb.com. I have my doubts of 100% accurcy of what's listed, however it is close.
ie: under listed # 33 is the name as Garltiz, Paul but the birth and death dates are that of
Clara Yutzy. Obviously it's her. Then, #34, Annanias with info which appears correct.
At # 35 is the name of Simon Garlitz (not sure who he was) however, it gives comments" NO DATES-ALLEGED SUICIDE"
After seeing this it makes me wonder. Prior to my father's passing, my mother stated
to me that my father told her my Great-Grandfather, WM. F. Garlets had committed
suicide, which I cannot confirm. But knowing that Annanias passed at a young age
of 30 yrs., it makes me wonder if it weren't him of whom passed from suicide.
Would you have any ideas on how I may confirm this?
Again, much thanks for all the hard work you do on this site. This such a great way
to preserve the past for future generations.
thank you,
Jerry Quinn
p.s.
as time permits, I will forward to you the above obits I mentioned.
