Melvin Lawrence Garlitz [Frostburg]

— FROSTBURG — Melvin Lawrence Garlitz, 97, of Frostburg, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at the Memorial Campus of WMHS.
Born Aug. 1, 1911, in Garrett County, he was the son of the late George William Garlitz and Annie Missouri (Robison) Garlitz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen (Minnick) Garlitz; his second wife, Evelyn (Jolley) Garlitz; three sisters, Ida Hetz, Elnora Minnick and Cordelia Durst; two brothers, Burman Garlitz and Frances Garlitz.
Mr. Garlitz was retired from Kaiser Refractories, Zihlman as a brick maker after 35 years of service.
Surviving are one daughter, Arzona Keefer, Frostburg; two sons, Donald Lee Garlitz and wife Georgia, Frostburg, and Jerry Garlitz and wife Edna, Frostburg; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; num-erous nieces and nephews; one sister, Alice Beatrice Durst, Cherry Hill Assisted Living Center, Accident.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Monday, March 23 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 24 at 11:30 a.m. with Deacon Fred Passauer officiating.
Interment will be in the Emmanuel United Methodist Cemetery, Route 40 West of Frostburg.
